About Henrietta’s Kids
Henrietta’s Kids is a community-led initiative focused on removing practical barriers to education. By providing essential resources, school supplies, uniforms, and more. We help students show up prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

Our Mission
Henrietta’s Kids equips elementary-aged students in underserved communities with essential resources that help them begin school prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

Our Vision
A future where every child begins the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

Our story
Henrietta’s Kids is rooted in lived experience. My grandmother Henrietta played a foundational role in my life, always making sure I had what I needed. Her consistency, care, and quiet support created a sense of stability that shaped who I am today. This initiative carries that spirit forward, extending that same level of care to children in underserved communities.
Henrietta’s Story
Henrietta was a one-woman neighborhood watch. She seemed to know everyone, everything, and every problem worth solving. She kept an eye on the community- not to pry, but to care. If a family needed help, she knew. If a child was struggling, she noticed. She didn’t wait to be asked. She simply showed up.
She was my grandmother, and she changed my life.
When I was a young girl, I attended a school that required strict uniforms. I still remember how difficult it was to get everything ready before the first day of school. I worried whether it would all come together in time and whether I would be the only pupil who stood out on Assembly morning.
Every school year, without fail, my grandmother would buy the fabric, find a tailor to sew the uniform, shop for white socks, and make sure I had black shoes. What seemed overwhelming to me, she treated as a problem to be solved. She moved from shop to shop and errand to errand, determined that I would walk into school prepared, confident, and ready to learn on the first day.
My grandmother believed deeply that every child deserved a good education, and she understood that something as simple as having the proper uniform could shape a child’s confidence and readiness to learn.
And Henrietta didn’t just do this for me.
She was always looking for ways to help other children in the neighborhood as well. If a family was struggling, she noticed. If a child needed support, she found a way to help. Her generosity seemed endless. Looking back, I’ve lost count of how many lives she touched.
As a child, I simply knew that my grandmother loved me and that somehow everything would come together. It wasn’t until years later that I fully appreciated the time, sacrifice, and determination behind those acts of care.
That memory stayed with me.
Years later, I realized that school supplies and uniforms- things that can seem small- are often real barriers for families. Whether it’s a winter coat, colorful markers, a backpack, or gym shoes, these items can mean the difference between a child walking into school feeling prepared and confident or feeling left behind before the school year even begins.
I founded Henrietta’s Kids because I wanted to pay forward the priceless impact my grandmother’s love, sacrifice, and belief in education had on my life.
Henrietta never imagined that the uniforms she helped me wear, the shoes she helped me find, or the confidence she helped me build would one day inspire an organization. She was simply doing what she believed was right: helping a child she loved.
My grandmother’s legacy was never about recognition or praise. It was about showing up, helping where she could, and making sure children had what they needed to succeed.
“I am one of Henrietta’s Kids.”
Today, Henrietta’s Kids carries that same spirit forward by providing grade-specific school supplies and essential resources to children and families. Every backpack, notebook, pencil, and uniform represents more than a material item. It represents dignity, opportunity, and the belief that every child deserves to start the school year prepared.
Through this organization, we hope many more children will experience the same support, encouragement, and confidence that Henrietta gave to me. Join us in carrying her legacy forward. Welcome!

Our Approach
We believe in building with intention. Our approach is simple and disciplined:
- Start small and execute well
- Partner with trusted schools and community organizations
- Learn through real-world application
- Scale only after the model is validated
This ensures that as we grow, we maintain quality, consistency, and meaningful impact.
Where We Are Today
Henrietta’s Kids is currently in the pilot phase, running a focused program to support a small group of elementary students through back-to-school readiness.
The goal of this phase isn’t scale; it’s clarity. We’re building a model that works, one step at a time.
Looking Ahead
The long-term goal is to build a repeatable, sustainable system that can expand across communities while preserving the quality of the experience for every child we serve.
